Welcome to Forest Oak School

As Executive Head of Forest oak school, I am pleased to welcome you to our incredible school. We have a strong focus on high aspirations and resilience across our school which caters for children aged 4-18 years with moderate learning difficulties (MLD).  Many of the children that attend our school have additional special educational needs such as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit and hyperactive disorder (ADHD) and speech, language and communication difficulties.

We have developed a strong and caring whole school community, which has helped us go from strength to strength.  Our thoughtful and supportive staff ensure our pupil are at the centre of everything we do.

We want our pupils to have a love for learning and the chance to experience activities across the whole curriculum.  We have high expectations of both learning and progress and ensure all pupils are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.  We want our pupils to have a love for learning and the chance to experience activates across the whole curriculum.  All pupils, regardless of their ability, are able to access all areas of the curriculum and any extracurricular activates held.  The staff have created a supportive friendly and nurturing environment which enables all pupils to feel safe and know they are listened to.  All staff understand the importance of safeguarding.  We want to ensure all out pupils believe in themselves and their abilities, aspire to be the best they can be and want to learn so they can go on to achieve their dreams and goals.

We promote the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of pupils, including a recognition and understanding of fundamental British values.  Our pupils are exceptionally well behaved, kind, helpful and supportive of each other; they enjoy opportunities to get involved with the day to day running of school though our student council.  They are proud to be part of our school family.

We have high expectations of pupils and stakeholders and strive for our values to be lived out by all who work and learn at Forest Oak.  We work relentlessly to nurture our pupils to unlock and achieve their potential.  Our teachers lead by example; inspiring our young people to learn through rich curriculum and the experience we create for them inside and outside the classroom.  Our creative curriculums allow us to bring ‘learning to life’. Our topic-based approach is designed to allow us to teach the breadth of the curriculums, alongside enrichment experiences and building on our pupil’s cultural capital.  Our curriculums are designed to be challenging and aspirational; to ensure the pupils fulfil their potential and are enthused by learning at Forest Oak.  Success is so much more than academic outcome and here at Forest Oak, we value and celebrate progress in so many areas including social and emotional regulation, kindness, attitude towards learning, attendance, building positive relationships and showing unconditional positive regard.

We are extremely proud of all our school has to offer and our pupil outcomes.  We welcome visits to our school from families looking for the best special education for their children. Please do get in touch with the school office to make an appointment to view our wonderful school; the best way to find out about our school is to come and visit and see for yourself.  Our doors are always open and we would be delighted to share our experience and time with you.

Best wishes

Miss D Luck
