Welcome Message
As a growing Sixth Form the working and non-contact environment is unrivalled. Students have a pastoral coach who guides and supports them as well as a Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Lead of Sixth Form.
All students have a Form Tutor and five periods of study, per week, in their chosen subjects. In addition to this there is extensive UCAS and careers advice which sets the aspirational scene for all students. The structure of the Sixth Form allows for greater independence and responsibility so that students are prepared for their chosen next steps at the end of the Key Stage studies. However, we don’t lose sight of the fact that our young people still need support and so our Welfare offer to Sixth Form students continues. We are conscious of the pressures young people face and therefore still hold dear our values and warm relationships throughout the Sixth Form.

I began studying at St Francis in 2009 and finished my GCSE’s in 2014. I then went on to sixth form at St Francis and completed my A levels in 2016. I went to Sheffield Hallam University to study Criminology, and completed my studies in May 2020, graduating in November 2021. After that I gained employment at St Basil’s in Redditch, working with young people aged 16-25 affected by homelessness, I worked in their supported accommodation working as a progression coach, helping them with personal issues and preparing them for independent living

I studied at St Francis of Assisi for both my GSCEs and A-Levels. I left in 2013. During Sixth Form I completed further work experience to try out the construction industry. After deciding that structural engineering was for me, I applied to university for a 5-year Master’s sandwich course in Civil Engineering. I completed a year in industry in the middle of the course, where I worked for a structural engineering firm for 15 months.

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesThis rich diet gives all students a learning pathway and allows them to open up opportunities for their future careers.
All Year 12 students are provided with the opportunity to complete a work experience placement for one week in the Summer Term in an organisation or company that relates to the students’ potential career pathway or where they will be able to gain a valuable insight into the world of work and develop key employability skills. This will provide the students with an advantage when applying for university courses or apprenticeships and it will allow them to build a network of professional contacts which could lead to job security in the future.
