Welcome to Birtenshaw School Bolton
Birtenshaw College provides specialist further education for young people aged between 16 and 25 with physical disability, including complex health needs and / or learning disability, including Autism Spectrum Conditions. The College was established in 2014 in response to the lack of local further education opportunities for young adults with a disability who were over the age of 19 and have difficulty in accessing mainstream college courses because of the level of support they need. Here at Birtenshaw we believe that every young person has the right and ability to communicate. We follow the Means, Reasons & Opportunities model (Money & Thurman, 1994).Birtenshaw has a team of Gym and Activities instructors that deliver sport in the school, college, Enrichment, Children’s homes and in the community.Birtenshaw has a fleet of vehicles ranging from standard cars, people carriers, small mini-buses and larger mini-buses with wheel chair facilities.
