Welcome to Saint Gregory's Catholic College

“The New Sixth combines exceptional teaching and learning with outstanding pastoral care. This approach enables students to thrive in a supportive, caring atmosphere that ensures everyone can acquire the academic success, confidence and skills they need to continue their educational journey of choice.”Our sixth form is open to all aspiring A Level candidates. Our guiding mission is to provide our students with exciting sixth form experiences that promote academic excellence and spiritual guidance, ensuring Christian Values are at the centre of all that we do. The New Sixth combines exceptional teaching and learning with outstanding pastoral care, enabling students to thrive in an atmosphere that ensures everyone acquires the academic success, confidence and skills they need to continue their educational journey of choice. At a time when life is uncertain and demands are high, we want to provide a safe, inclusive environment where students feel valued as they are and are inspired to extend, challenge and equip themselves to achieve new goals and to dream big dreams. When a student joins us in Year 12, they embark on a journey with us that will last for two years and, from their very first day, we instil in them a desire and ambition to strive for the highest standards, to continue to develop a life-long love of learning and to achieve their own personal best.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
We offer all students the chance to deepen and enrich their studies, to go above and beyond just gaining qualifications. At the New Sixth enrichment time is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in activities outside of your academic subjects. All sixth from students are involved in enrichment activities on a Thursday afternoon on Week A and Week B of the timetable. Students are involved in activities including Sports, Languages, Financial Skills, Open University courses, IT Skills, Driving Theory, Communication and Interview Skills.

Languages
Students have the opportunity to complete a short course in a language and receive a certificate to add to their portfolio.
Financial Awareness
Students will be delivered workshops into those financial skills that they will need when they leave the Sixth Form. Whether that's applying for a loan, student finance or strategies into savings and spending.
Open University Courses and MOOCs
Students are given the opportunity to complete short courses including MOOCs to develop their portfolio for future applications.
IT Skills
Students will be delivered lessons in MS Office applications such as Excel and given the opportunity to Web page design.
Communication and Interview Skills
Students will be delivered strategies to use in applications for their future pathways.
Yoga
Students are able to relax and unwind in Yoga sessions.
Driving Theory
Students are given lessons and time to develop the understanding needed to be confident of achieving their driving theory certificate.
Sport
Students have full access the Culverhay Leisure Facility to use the gym and work out or get involved in individual or team sports. Whether that's to use the Games hall for racket sports, basketball, netball or 5 -a-side football the choice is down to students.
