Welcome to Springfield School

Welcome to Springfield School I am delighted to introduce myself, Laura Armitage, to you in my role as Head of Sixth Form. I took on this role in 2018 and am so proud to see the Sixth Form Department developing each year. My passion is the future for our students so our day-to-day practise is centred around getting the best possible outcomes for each and every one of them. The highlight of my year is our Leavers’ Awards Ceremony and Prom, where everyone celebrates the progress made by students throughout their time with us. At this point, I know that everyone has an appropriate post-school placement set up, whether this is continuing in education, moving to a bespoke day provision, residential care or supported living. I am so proud of our young adults when they leave us as I know they are ready for their adult lives because of the progress they have made at Springfield School. I look forward to building relationships with the new Sixth Form in September and supporting them towards their aspirations.Laura Armitage Head of Sixth Form

Ethan Barlow

September 2020

University

I attended Springfield Sixth Form from September 2020 to July 2022. During this time I worked on AIM Qualifications at Entry Level 3 and Level 1 in Maths, English, ICT, and PSD. I completed work experience with Bentley Motors and Cheshire and Warrington Carer’s Trust. Since leaving Springfield: I went straight to Cheshire College to do an Independent Living course. This allowed me to gain skills required in the home including cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, and money management. I also did some work experience in the college shop. In September 2023 I began an Employability course along with GCSE Maths and English. I have made lots of new friends and go to college with some of my old friends from Springfield. It was definitely the right choice for me to go to Cheshire College. I love it there. My aspirations for the future: In September 2024, I plan to go onto a mainstream ICT course for two years followed by a supported internship in 2026.
