Welcome to Alfreton Park Community Special School

Welcome to Our WebsiteOn behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website. Our pupils describe Alfreton Park as a friendly, caring, exciting and safe Special School. We are located in the beautiful parkland of Alfreton, and we are lucky to be within easy access of our local community, with whom we are proud to have many links. We have the specialist knowledge to meet the needs of pupils aged 2 to 19 years with a diverse range of highly complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).We are a warm and welcoming school and we consider ourselves to be one big family. As Headteacher, I am privileged to lead a fantastic team of dedicated, caring and highly skilled staff, who strive for the best outcomes for our pupils. Teamwork is essential in a setting like ours and together we are committed to our school values: we are caring, we are brave and we aim high!We know each and every one of our pupils has the potential to achieve great things and by working and learning together with our local community, other agencies and pupils’ families, the sky is the limit! In line with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), our team is firmly committed to providing every pupil with an exciting, relevant and personalised curriculum. Our pupils have high aspirations, and we encourage them to be the best they can be, both socially and academically. The underpinning principle of our curriculum is independence, and we recognise the importance of enabling pupils to communicate effectively and become valued members of their community. We have a new school building, expanding the opportunities for our pupils even further. The new facilities include a therapy hub with rebound (trampoline), sensory, sensory integration and Thrive rooms; as well as specialist art and music rooms; an independent living area, a horticulture area, forest schools and multi-use games area.If you would like to visit the school, please call 01773 483330 to book a place on the next available school tour,Best wishes,Josie O’DonnellHeadteacher
