Welcome to Bettridge School

It is a great privilege to be the Headteacher of Bettridge School. We are proud to share with you the excellent work we do with children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We are a specialist provision catering for 148 children and young people from the age of 4 to 19 with Special Educational Needs within the areas of Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning and Sensory and/or Physical needs. The young people are at the centre of every decision we make and we take great pride in celebrating their achievements and encouraging the families to take an active role in their child’s education and future life goals. We provide a supportive, positive and educational environment in order to enable learners to achieve and make progress against the outcomes in their Education, Health and Care Plans. The school provides access to a good quality and balanced curriculum which is individualised through ‘pathways’ to meet the needs of the learner. In addition to providing education, the aim and purpose of the provision is to support pupils to address any emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties which affect their development and to help them develop resilience. The school participates fully in partnership and multi-agency working with key external services to support children, young people and their families through a wider approach to access and to secure additional support and services where this is needed to achieve good outcomes. You can find out much more about what our school community has to offer by looking at our website. We are proud of our fantastic school and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

The emphasis of FE is to follow a curriculum based on the Pathways to Adulthood Model. The schemes of work focus on enabling pupils to communicate, develop and follow their chosen interests and build on their strengths. Most pupils spend three years at Bettridge before moving into post 19 provision.
