Welcome to our Sixth FormOur VisionSt George’s Sixth Form provides a stimulating vocational curriculum, which allows pupils to specialise in areas that motivate and challenge them whilst providing the opportunities to further their learning ready for the world of work, apprenticeships or university. The Careers and Pastoral Support offered to Sixth Form pupils allows them to grow as individuals, informing them of their choices for the next stage in their lives. This is provided within the school environment that is safe and secure, reflecting the family atmosphere of our all-through community. If you have any questions about our Sixth Form then please email admin@st-georgescofe-thanet.kent.sch.uk Our 6th Form charity is the Down Syndrome Development TrustWe provide a range of opportunities and experiences at Post-16 including a variety of Level 3 qualifications allowing pupils to progress into employment and higher education. The two year experience of Sixth Form does not only provide pupils with the qualifications and skills needed for the next stage of their higher education or career, it is the intermediate stage between childhood and adulthood. The pastoral support given throughout the Sixth Form experience helps our pupils to enter the next stages of their lives as well-rounded adults. The Sixth Form offers a range of activities for pupils including our Football Academy, social events and trips. Pupils are encouraged to take part in the school enrichment programme where they support the school or wider community in various ways whilst simultaneously improving their CV. Sixth Form pupils are offered the chance to help younger pupils in the secondary or primary school. We understand that not all of our pupils will choose to progress to university after their time in Sixth Form but there is a well-structured programme of preparation for higher education for those that decide to progress in this way. Other pupils will be supported in finding full-time employment or apprenticeships. For more details of our Careers and University support, please follow the link.

Tiffany Pugh

September 2014

Employed

Tiffany left St George's Sixth Form in 2016 and headed off to University. "My first role out of university was a copyright and social media manager for The Sun Savers, the loyalty scheme for The Sun newspaper, I landed this role off the back of some work experience for Fabulous magazine. Following this I moved onto LadBible as a Social Editor, I created social content for Facebook and Instagram for Tyla (one of their sub brands). After a year and half spent there, I then moved to ITV, where I worked as a digital producer for the daytime show, Loose Women. This was an incredibly exciting and fulfilling role where I worked on set with the talent and crew to produce original social first content. Talent included the regular panellists as well as show guests such as Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, GK Barry, Tommy Fury, Mel B and Olivia Attwood Dack. I was a one man band so had to figure it all out on my own, which was tough but fab at the same time! I also had some great experiences here, including my Netflix debut as Paris Fury was filming her documentary when she was on the show and attending the National Television Awards. At the end of 2024, I moved onto become Social Producer for ITV Studios, where I now work very closely with the production side of TV, getting to understand how and why shows are produced, and helping to promote the huge amount of shows that ITV produces for both ITV and external channels such as Channel4 and Netflix. I now manage my own team of two, and manage the ITV Studios social accounts, from TikTok and Youtube to Instagram and Facebook".

Hannah Bentley

September 2008

Employed

I attended St George’s School between 2003-2008, then joined the sixth form from 2008-2010. It still feels like yesterday and you can believe your elders when they say it really is the best time of their lives (I will explain my perspective as to why that is later in the blurb). I left St George’s with three As and one B at A-Levels and went on to a London Law school and graduated with a 1st class honours degree. Sounds impressive doesn’t it! However, my education was quite the mountain hike (more info later on the challenges I faced). I was always a capable student, but it wasn’t until I got to 17 years old and realised that I was in control of what I learnt and at what speed. I realised I much preferred self-learning, and used the classroom to answer the questions I had on the topic, not wait to be told an answer I didn’t know the question to. I wish I learnt this sooner, and I wish I learnt where the library was sooner! My top tip is, find out how you like to learn and exploit it. I was previously Head of Corporate and Portfolio Assurance in a Government Agency but am now in the position of Head of Assurance at National Grid. I am now 30 and recognised as integrated assurance expert within regulated industries. What this means is, I provide independent insight, to leaders, so they can make informed choices (my purpose statement).

Alanna Georgette

September 2011

Employed

Left St George's in 2013 to head to University. "Hiii, I'm Alanna Georgette - after finishing school, I went to UCA for my foundation diploma, which is where I really fell in love with photography - especially analogue. I went on to do a Fine Art degree, which really helped me develop my style and find my creative direction. After graduating, I worked full-time for a year, but it didn’t take long to realise I was not built for the 9–5 life. So, at 23, I took the leap into freelancing, and I haven’t looked back since. Over the past two years, my career has evolved & now work primarily within the music industry - which is so fun - shooting live shows, working with artists, and even travelling internationally with them. I’ve been lucky enough to work with artists like Dasha, Nieve Ella, Jamie Webster, Ashley Monroe, Remember Monday, and more. It’s really hard work, but I adore it and I honestly couldn't ever do anything else."
