Welcome to Portesbery School

Portesbery is an all age day school (3-19 years) catering for children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Pupils may have additional sensory impairments, physical difficulties or challenging behaviour.

Our Headteacher is Nathan Aspinall.

Our school is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am-3.15pm (31.25 hours per week).

Official school holidays, public holidays and INSET days can be viewed here.

The school first opened on January 29th 1973 and was designed under the Ministry of Health prior to Special Schools becoming the responsibility of the Ministry of Education under the 1970 Education Act; as a result it was taken over and built by the Education Authority.

In 2015 the school moved in to brand new, purpose-built premises in Deepcut, Camberley.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
All learners have the opportunity to participate in work related learning in a way that is appropriate for them. This enables them to develop and practice key and functional skills in a range of real-life settings and situations with a wider range of people.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

There are four sections; Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. For each individual section successfully completed, learners will achieve a certificate and if they complete all four, they will receive their award.

Residential Trip

Fulfils the criteria of the expedition section and provides a great opportunity for students to try new activities and spend time away from home, with their peers, in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

Offsite work experience

We currently have learners undertaking weekly work experience in a shop, café, hotel, library, pre-school group and mother and baby group. We also run a Post 16 café and shop in school.
