Welcome to Sir George Monoux College
Monoux is a remarkable and unique place to learn. We transform lives and give life to dreams. We have created a community that is hard-working and friendly, a community that is focused and supportive. Our student population is proudly diverse and united through respect and ambition. Our students progress to university or higher-level employment & training because we teach exceptionally well and we guide & support in a personalised and aspirational way: The college places a keen emphasis on teaching how to plan students work and study effectively. We teach for literacy, with opportunities to develop oracy and read more deeply. We guide and support students to be a more confident version of themselves, to remain motivated through life’s challenges and to understand the needs of others .We have a well-established structure for work experience and skills development, bringing students into contact with careers in law, business services, science, health, digital industries, engineering, design and more. Sixth Form Colleges are incredible places of education. We are smaller than large FE colleges yet able to offer a huge combination of courses, at or pre-Level 3. This means that we teach mostly A Levels, T Levels and other technical/vocational courses. Our teachers are fully specialist in teaching these courses. The character of a Sixth Form College is very distinctive: expect a well-run and structured day, great behaviours in and out of the classroom, a significant level of support for students life after college and a tailored programme of guidance and tutoring. Students feel as though they have moved forwards from school and have greater independence, but they will still feel part of a close community, protected, and heard. We have a leadership team that has worked together for many years. I joined the college in 2016, bringing now 33 years’ experience of working in Sixth Form Colleges. This is a college that students (and parents!) can trust and be excited about! Students who join us in 2026 will be with us as we celebrate our 500-year anniversary: 500 years of providing vital education to young people in east London based on values and standards that have never been more relevant and life-changing than they are today.
