Welcome to JFS

A warm welcome to JFS Sixth Form. Whilst we are proud that we retain the majority of our Year 11 students, we are equally pleased that each year we welcome a growing number of external students. With our external applications being at a 10 year high, competition for places at our exceptional Sixth Form is fierce. At JFS Sixth Form we are developing students into confident, resilient young adults. We have high expectations of all students throughout every aspect of Sixth Form life and are unapologetic for this. From exceptional attendance and behaviour standards to ensuring every student makes the progress they are capable of, we achieve truly excellent outcomes. We cater for the needs of every pupil within our course offering. Be it academic, vocational or technical, it is an exciting time for education at JFS. We are launching our first T Level in September, ‘Early Years Education’ and are oversubscribed for the course.Sixth Form students have sole use of their own canteen, ‘the Mezz’ and a silent study room, staffed by a qualified HE and careers advisor, the wonderful Mrs Levick. Students may also use the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) during study periods and have their own outdoor space. Our A Level teachers are subject experts and have often been examiners for their subject, giving them the depth to stretch and challenge even the most able students. Our vocational teachers have excellent contacts and often bring speakers in such as TalkTalk Radio presenters or business men/ women to inspire our students.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
Our enrichment and careers offering is truly outstanding. Every student completes the JFS Sixth Form Enrichment award to Bronze, Silver or Gold standard, depending on their achievements. This incorporates, super-curricular, leadership and volunteering opportunities available to students throughout the Sixth Form. Every Year 12 student attends a University/Careers Fair, has the opportunity to attend both Russell Group and Oxbridge University visits and Apprenticeship speakers. Our Medicine mentoring program is hugely successful with nine students receiving offers this year. JFS students benefit from a vast array of top notch speakers, from Ed Davey and Lord Mann to Ben Winston. Student societies are hugely popular at JFS, with students keen to take the lead on new and established societies, from 'STEM Soc' to 'Med Soc', Crochet Club to 'Debate Soc'. Additionally, if it doesn’t yet exist students are welcome to found a new society, and often do!
