Welcome to Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College

At Accord Sixth Form College we offer first-class academic support to students aged 16-19. Our courses are run by passionate subject specialists who ensure that each and every one of our students can reach their full potential.

Our base within Ossett Academy, Wakefield means that students have access to the great resources and teaching expertise of the wider academy, whilst also enjoying an area exclusive to them. This blend of familiarity and new adventure means that young people can take their first steps into independence without losing the targeted and individual support that they need, making us a popular choice for many students.

Our pathways to progression offer students a personalised programme of study, which, underpinned by our excellent Careers Education, Advice and Guidance, leads students towards their preferred destinations on leaving.

Accord Sixth Form College is an incredibly dynamic place with opportunities for academic, social, personal and growth experiences abound. We think we are ideally placed to help you make the best of these Post 16 years.

We strive to not only challenge our students academically, but also provide them with opportunities to add new skills, experiences and achievements to their CVs. We support our students to become wellrounded, mature and conscientious young people with an active interest in their community.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

We offer the DofE programme at three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold. This nationally recognised award is comprised of four sections which involve: helping your community/the environment, becoming fitter and healthier, developing new skills and completing an expedition. Undertaking your award will see you enjoy a life-changing experience, enhance your CV and develop your skills whilst taking on personal challenges, having fun and meeting new friends.

Extended Project Qualification

Choose to set yourself apart from the rest by completing an EPQ - an independent research project equivalent to half an A Level. This qualification is recognised by many universities as an important way for applicants to develop research and academic skills relevant for higher education study. Your project can be about anything you are passionate about - whether that’s your exploration into the commercial viability of zero emission fuel cells or writing your own novel.

Football Education

The Football Education Programme is designed to deliver exceptional experiences to talented aspiring footballers. The programme involves regular training sessions and weekly fixtures with the Association of Colleges (AoC) League. All fixtures are recorded on Veo cameras so that players can review footage and analyse their performance for continual improvement.
