Welcome Message

We have been pioneers in providing outstanding education for over 100 years. Our track record speaks for itself, with the majority of students obtaining places at university or securing higher level degree apprenticeships. However, we are more than just an academic provider; student wellbeing and empowerment is at the heart of what we do and we are very excited that we are now opening this sixth form opportunity to boys too!

You will be fully supported in all your endeavours and encouraged to fulfil your potential. We offer a diverse Sixth Form experience with opportunities to travel, lead, attend conferences, participate in the local community, whilst also making new friends over a coffee in the café. We are very proud of our students and what they achieve here. They not only succeed academically, they also develop confidence, independence, resilience, a strong social conscience and a can do mentality.

So join us at TGGS and dare to accomplish something special.

We look forward to meeting you very soon.

Mrs E Gale

"Before joining Sixth Form, I had never been pushed to work at my full capacity. At TGGS, I have found that the commitment and passion of my subject teachers has been met with immense support and understanding, allowing me to reach my full potential. I feel very lucky to have been able to experience the community here; immediately after joining Sixth Form I felt at home, and I have met friends for life. TGGS has given me the skills and confidence I need to progress through my career. Joining this school was the best decision that I could have made."

"My time at TGGS gave me the tools and qualities to become one of the role models I looked up to, back in Year 7. There is no doubt that within TGGS, every student is inspired, enabled and challenged to achieve their maximum potential in all fields, not just in academics. My year as Head Girl taught me to be a confident, organised, problem solver. I had the pleasure to help organise multiple fundraising events - seeing my favourite teachers in a lip sync battle for Red Nose Day has to be one of my favourite memories. Throughout my TGGS journey, I have never felt unsupported in any aspect from both the teaching and pastoral staff. I have always been encouraged to put my best foot forward and I know I can go on to excel at university and at any other challenges in my future."

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
The school is equally interested in our development as well-rounded people as in our academic success.

Team Sports

There are hockey and netball teams that compete at regional and national level. We facilitate our individual sportspersons to participate in their chosen fields, recently in such fields as international athletics, water hockey or competitive dancing.

Volunteering

Our students are active in the local community. We support a number of local initiatives directly through volunteering, such as working in Special Needs Schools, volunteering at hospitals and hospices and many of our students undertake voluntary work in charity shops. We have had a partnership with the Imprezza Academy, our sister school in Kenya, for over 10 years, and support them through events such as charity week in school. We also run a successful harvest collection to support the Torbay Food Banks. All of these activities are largely led by members of our Sixth Form.

Leadership

We look to you as members of the Sixth Form to lead and set the example for the rest of the school. You may wish to become a leader of one our many school community groups or get involved in the delivery of PSHE sessions with lower school classes. We have an active student voice that represent the views of the student body and ensure that current issues such as climate change, equality and diversity are championed throughout the school.
