Welcome to Kings Norton Girls' School

When you enter our Sixth Form you will already have an impressive track record of working hard and gaining the success you deserve. At Kings Norton Sixth Form we have decades of experience in educating students and today we believe that our Sixth Form has never been stronger. Our guiding principle is to ensure that there are opportunities and support in our Sixth Form for every one of our students to succeed academically and to thrive personally. Excellent relationships with staff instil the confidence to overcome any challenges that are inevitably faced in moving into A Level study, and the individual care our Sixth Form community offers enables our students to achieve the highest of aspirations for their futures.

After a successful two years students move onto Higher Education, apprenticeships or work which is right for them. A significant proportion of our students decide to continue their studies at Russell Group Universities or Oxford and Cambridge. The additional leadership and enrichment experiences on offer at Kings Norton Sixth Form encourage creativity and enjoyment beyond the curriculum. They provide an opportunity to take responsibility and find out more about who you are and what you can become.

After 6th form I went to UCE (as it was called in my day) and did a 4 year teaching degree. I worked at a primary school in central Birmingham for 4 years, now I have moved to Indonesia where I am head of Year 5 at The British International school, Jakarta.

University

My A Level results enabled me to secure a place at a Russell Group University. My studies have now taken me to the United States to experience first-hand their prison education systems and how education can change lives.

I went to BCU and studied Media and Communication. Then I did my teacher training with BASS (in Harborne). Now I am Head of Media and Film at Lymm High School. I’m also doing an MA in Education with Edge Hill. I’ve done some educational research and written some papers, specifically on how to challenge the most able students.
