Welcome to The King's School

We appreciate that choosing an appropriate Sixth Form experience is a very important decision. The right environment for post-16 education is vital in providing you with the skills and qualifications you need for a happy and successful future. The Sixth Form experience at King’s is a special one. We offer a wide range of A Level and vocational courses, taught in small classes by subject experts, centred around our vibrant Sixth Form Centre. The school’s ethos of challenge and support is amplified in the Sixth Form, and forms an excellent bridge between school and university or the world of work.We take great care to prepare students for transition into post 16 study and then beyond. We know our students well, and therefore the support they receive in the Sixth Form is very personalised. For those students that join us from other schools, there is a strong and successful transition programme which helps them settle into the Sixth Form community successfully. With independence comes responsibility. We expect our Sixth Formers to take part in the wider life of the school, something that they enjoy immensely. There are a number of excellent opportunities to develop their skills as leaders including mentoring and teaching alongside our experienced staff. Students at this stage in their school career are excellent role models for younger students, sharing their knowledge and experience with the rest of the school. Our leavers move on to good universities, apprenticeships and employment and are successful there and beyond. We welcome visits from prospective students. It is always a pleasure to show visitors around the school and seeing us at work is the ideal way to decide upon King’s suitability for you.We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our Sixth Form.Richard Gerry – Head of Sixth Form & Rob Gammon – Head Teacher

Apprenticeship

The Sixth Form experience at The King’s School equips students for university and the world of work. A great example of this is Louis who studied business studies, government and politics, history and the Extended Project whilst at King’s. Having left school, Louis chose an exciting route as an apprentice for AON in Birmingham. As part of his apprenticeship, he now attends regular client meetings with global companies and work on clients that are household names. This is all possible with the confidence that King’s has helped him develop.
