At Chestnut Grove Academy, we offer a vibrant, inclusive, and academically ambitious Sixth Form in the heart of Balham, South London.

Academic Pathways

Students at Chestnut Grove can choose from a wide range of post-16 options, including:

  • 4 A Levels (for highest GCSE achievers)
  • 3 A Levels and an EPQ
  • 3 A Levels
  • A mixed pathway: 2 A Levels and a vocational course
  • A full vocational pathway (both BTEC and AAQs offered)
  • BTEC Level 2 route with GCSE English and/or Maths retakes

 

Student Experience

Students enjoy a rich programme of activities including:

  • Student-led clubs, sports, and wellbeing sessions
  • Guest speakers, debates, and CEIAG workshops
  • Trips: University tours, apprenticeships events, High Ashurst team building trip, UCAS exhibitions, and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions
  • Creative opportunities: school productions, concerts, journalism, mentoring, and student leadership roles

 

Support & Progression

  • Strong induction and pastoral care with a dedicated Student Support Officer
  • High university progression, including Russell Group, Oxbridge and medics
  • Careers guidance aligned with Gatsby benchmarks

 

Admissions

  • Chestnut Grove Sixth Form is open access, welcoming applicants from other schools and colleges.
  • The application deadline for September 2026 entry is Friday 19th December 2025.
  • Our Open Evening will be held on Thursday 2nd October 2025, 5–7pm
