Welcome to The St Marylebone CofE School

The St Marylebone CE Sixth Form is a thriving example of how great education can be. Our culture of achievement is fuelled by a love of learning, grounded in Christian values and driven by a dynamic creativity and a joyful sense of community. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds. They excel academically and evolve into young adults of whom we are really proud. They rise to our high expectations, benefit from outstanding teaching, are motivated by each other and passionate subject specialist teachers and develop the independent learning skills they need for university and life. Our staff inspire, support and believe that all students can achieve. We enjoy all the opportunities of an inner London setting, making the most of the city’s arts, culture, business and enterprise. Yet the sixth form site itself is a haven of creativity, learning and reflection. Our facilities include specialist science labs, art, design, technology and textiles rooms, two libraries, a dedicated study room, a suite of music classrooms, practice rooms, sports facilities, dance studios, a recording studio, subject classrooms with e-learning technology, a theatre, an assembly hall and a common room – all housed in a characterful mixture of old and new buildings. We firmly believe that learning and intellectual excitement occurs both inside and outside the classroom. We offer a broad range of subjects, an excellent range of trips, a STEM programme, a number of enrichment activities including a high profile employer engagement programme and individualised career guidance. This way, every student can develop their own talents and fully prosper before making the next exciting leap to Higher Education.Learning at this level and making life-changing decisions is challenging for students, parents and carers – which is why St Marylebone offers excellent pastoral care from a dedicated team of tutors, mentors and experienced heads of year. Success at Sixth Form comes from effective and communicative partnership; we provide a regular programme of meetings in order for parents and carers to best know how to support their son or daughter. Our traditional principles are solid foundations for our modern, forward-thinking outlook. This gives our students the confidence, skills and experiences to know that they can succeed in whatever they choose to do – and to enjoy the journey. Successive “outstanding” Ofsted inspections and external evaluations have recognised our dynamic spirit and progressive, caring ethos. To us, this is evident daily in the great young people we nurture. We do hope you will be one of them.Felicity Read Director of Sixth Form

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
St Marylebone 6th Form boasts a wide range of extra-curricular activities including Performing Arts, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, World Challenge, debating, sports, Student Leadership, volunteering opportunities and a host of clubs and societies run by passionate subject teachers. 6th Formers also write and produce publications such as the Marylebone Messenger, the current affairs paper NewsTues and our podcast SMSpeaks. Students in Year 12 also enhance their leadership and organisational skills through the enrichment programme where they all organise activities for younger students, take part in work experience, take up volunteering and lead charity events.

The Arts
The Performing and Visual Arts are at the heart of St Marylebone’s success and creativity – in all areas of learning. In the 6th Form this includes creativity in all subject teaching, form time debates and competitions, assemblies, gallery and theatre visits, our Creative Show and Art & Textiles Exhibitions, workshops with professionals and numerous opportunities to participate in school productions in Dance, Music and Drama, and producing our own podcast, SMSpeaks.
6th Form Passport
The 6th Form passport is a 2 year enrichment and skills-based programme pursued in addition to A-Level study. This gives students the opportunity during the school day to develop skills and undertake enrichment that will equip you with skills, opportunities and experiences to leave St Marylebone as a well-rounded, interesting and interested young adult.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths (STEM)
Creativity is not confined to the arts classrooms at St Marylebone; teaching and learning are just as vibrant and popular in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). We are also a Maths Hub and a magnet for enterprises and industries wanting to work with young people. Our creative STEM programme includes industry talks from leading professionals, workplace visits and placements, employer-engagement projects and mentoring. Many go on to universities and industry success in these fields.
