Welcome to Fosse Way School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Fosse Way School, a 3-19 special needs school in the heart of Westfield near Bath.
At Fosse Way, we are dedicated to preparing every young person for a successful adulthood. We believe that all students deserve the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. Our focus is on equipping each student with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to navigate life with independence and dignity.
We offer three unique learning pathways, carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of our broad cohort of students. Whether it’s life skills or academic development, our pathways ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed in their journey towards adulthood.
Our school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a vibrant, happy community where we celebrate each individual and the strengths they bring. We are passionate about serving our students, fostering an environment of care, respect, and growth. Every day, we work together to create an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere that empowers our young people to reach their goals.
Thank you for visiting, we look forward to sharing more about how we make a difference in the lives of our students.

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesStudents will have a personalised timetable of work experience during their time in post-16 and often access work experience opportunities daily. Placements vary widely and may include being involved in a class led business, supported placements internally or externally as well as independent placements in the community. We also have a ‘famous’ onsite training café called Longfellow’s which many of our students volunteer in. Do check out our film on Facebook!
Our curriculum promotes the development of independence at all levels and abilities. This may include teaching students to make their own choices, personal care skills, travel training, looking after the home, developing the skills to live independently later in life, and managing their own emotions. Students are regularly taught out in the local community and in our onsite training flat.
We have a strong sense of community at Fosse Way School and we teach our students to have the same. We access many local community facilities and build relationships with many local companies, especially to enhance our work placements. We teach our students to become actively involved in their communities and every year each group sponsors a local charity. We believe it is important to support and broaden our student’s social development. To enable this, we regularly meet students from other local provisions for social events to encourage new social opportunities.
