Welcome to Rawlins

WelcomeI am delighted to welcome you to our wonderful Sixth Form. We know that the next two years will be two of the most stimulating, exciting and transformative of your educational journey so far. Our purpose is simple; firstly, to allow all of our students to reach their full potential and secondly, to ensure that they are able to face, embrace and overcome their personal challenges that lie ahead. The size of our Sixth Form allows us to offer an extensive range of A-Level courses. This gives opportunity for students to develop their own highly personalised program of study. Despite this, we maintain a deeply personal feel, allowing us to treat you as an individual and provide high quality personalised pastoral, academic and careers support throughout your time here. You will receive excellent teaching from an experienced team, giving you full scope to pursue your interests in depth. This will guarantee that you have a sound academic grounding for your future career and education aspirations. As a result, our students go onto achieve some of the highest A-Level results not only in Leicestershire but across the East Midlands. We have excellent links and partnerships with a range of external providers. This ensures that our students are carefully guided onto their chosen career pathway. Most of our student body goes onto study further education at university, with a significant number making successful applications to study at prestigious Oxbridge and Russell group universities. We also have a growing student that go onto high quality apprenticeship and employment programs as well as exciting and meaningful gap years. Our aim is to create well rounded young people. As a result, we encourage all of our students to engage with our universal offer allowing for self-development beyond the curriculum. This includes our extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities in the sports and arts, but also student leadership opportunities including our School Council, volunteering in lessons and supporting the Right to Read Program. These opportunities allow for all students to flourish and make a difference to our local community. There are also a range of other exciting super-curricular opportunities including the Extended Project Qualification and our Oxbridge and Medicine Societies. At the heart of our offer is a dedicated team of Sixth Form staff. Together, we work tirelessly with subject teachers and form tutors to ensure that you are well informed and develop a broader awareness of the world around you. Students will enjoy a robust PSHE and tutor time offer covering a range of vital themes and important topical world issues and this is underpinned by our commitment to our school and British Values. We celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of our student body and work tirelessly to ensure that all of our students are nurtured in a warm and welcoming environment that respects everyone as individuals. We are inspired by the achievements of our students and alumni and as a result, we know that you will be ideally placed to build yourself a prosperous and enriching future should you decide to study at Rawlins. We look forward to meeting you!Mr Matt KinseyHead of Sixth Form
