HomeSchool Profile

Welcome to Clacton County High School

Welcome to Sigma Sixth Tendring, a college which supports a journey of self-discovery and prepares students for the next stage of their lives. Our students consistently achieve excellent results on our A Level and Applied courses, and progress to their first-choice universities or employers with ease. Our vision is to create opportunities within and beyond the curriculum to enable students to become a well-rounded, confident, responsible and successful person and to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.Sixth form study is very different from students' school experiences so far. They will be required to be much more organised and independent with their studies. There will be periods on a student's timetable for additional study when not in lessons. Each subject, that a student studies, requires extra independent work on their behalf.Students will need to' re-do' notes to help them embed the subject content - go over what they have learnt in class and investigate further in their own time. There is an expectation for students to work hard and get involved in enrichment activities, to develop their sense of self, to explore opportunities for future career pathways, leaving Sigma Sixth Tendring with a sense of achievement. Staff will help, advise and support, but at the end of the day, it is an individual's hard work, commitment and enthusiasm that will define their success.Whatever path our students choose after Sigma Sixth Tendring, staff are here to ensure that they make the most of the opportunities available to help them succeed. Our pastoral care is second-to-none and whether a student decides on employment, an apprenticeship, or a place at university, our experienced staff can help them achieve their goals.Sarah McKarryHead of College
