University

While the teaching and pastoral care at The Holy Cross Sixth Form are exceptional, what sets it apart is its strong sense of community. I have formed lifelong friendships and created lasting memories. Moreover, I received invaluable support from my teachers, who dedicated their time to help me achieve my desired grades, and to guide me through crucial decisions about my future. They encouraged me to explore leadership roles, refine my study techniques, and helped me to develop my confidence. Thanks to this nurturing environment, I am now studying Chemical Engineering at a top Russell Group university. I will always be grateful for the solid foundation the sixth form has provided me for both my academic and personal journey.

Apprenticeship

The Holy Cross Sixth Form is a supportive and encouraging environment which has provided me with the confidence to excel in my career. As a new student in Year 12, Holy Cross provided me many opportunities such as being part of the Head Girl Team and a vast choice of subjects to study. This allowed me to flourish in all areas of my studies including in undertaking the Extended Project Qualification. All of the teachers are highly supportive and I am so grateful that I was within a great learning environment which encouraged me to do well. Without the support of the careers team, I would not be where I am today undertaking a highly competitive degree apprenticeship within accounting. Overall, I would highly recommend enrolling at Holy Cross for a great Sixth Form experience.

University

Having come from Richard Challoner, joining The Holy Cross Sixth Form was effortless; the staff and students were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The friends I made inside and outside the classroom were amazing and gave me many great memories. A-Levels are inevitably challenging, but I am exceedingly grateful for the support and guidance provided by the community. Not only is the teaching quality superb, but the passion and dedication teachers have for the students is invaluable; I received so much great advice as I progressed through the university application process. I went on to complete my Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science degree at the University of Bath. I loved studying Physics at The Holy Cross Sixth Form, and overall, I couldn’t have imagined going anywhere else!

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
You may choose to delve deeper into a topic you’ve encountered in the classroom or through homework, or explore a completely new subject, as long as it aligns with your academic studies. Super-curricular activities, like extracurricular ones, occur outside of the classroom, but they specifically enhance and relate to your academic pursuits. So why are super-curricular activities important? To begin with, they are key to doing well at university, but more importantly, if you’re applying, or planning to apply, to a top UK university then these activities are things that will stand out for admissions teams. This is because they demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for your chosen subject; the desire to go beyond your high school curriculum; and the ability to study independently.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Are you ready to show universities that you have the motivation and commitment to undertake an independent study project? Are you ready to research and write about a topic that excites you, sets your UCAS application apart, and can even earn you up to 70 UCAS points? At The Holy Cross Sixth Form you can choose to do an EPQ in Year 12, alongside your timetabled studies.
Brilliant Club Scholars Programme
Be part of our Brilliant Club! Our Brilliant Club Scholars Programme gives our students the opportunity to work with a PhD researcher to develop key academic skills and experience university-style learning, in preparation for successful applications and transitions to higher education. On the programme, students in Year 12 can undertake a challenging university-style course and develop the research and academic writing skills to excel at university. Students are taught by a PhD tutor, who will share their subject knowledge and expertise, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to secure a place at a competitive university. You will work towards completing a challenging final assignment, which is marked and moderated using university grades, with a Graduation event at a high tariff university.
Raising the Bar
Thinking of a career in Law? Not only can you study A Level Law here at The Holy Cross Sixth Form, you can also experience a taste of the courtroom. Raising The Bar is a super curricular 5 week course aimed at young aspiring lawyers. You will dive deep into controversial topics, sparking debates that challenge your mind and broaden your horizons. From engaging in Examination-in-chief simulations to receiving insightful feedback, every moment is a step towards greater understanding and personal growth.
