Welcome to Melland High School

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Melland High School which meets the diverse special educational needs of students between 11 and 19, is a support school for central and east Manchester high schools and is a National Support School. Melland High is a Bright Futures Educational Trust school, helping us to raise aspirations and drive-up standards to ensure our students have real choices open to them when they leave school.I am extremely proud to lead such a positive and successful school which is a thriving, challenging and happy environment co-located with Cedar Mount Academy in Gorton Education Village. Here our students achieve and flourish educationally, emotionally and socially in our supportive and creative state of the art building.Students are expected to try hard, be aspirational and achieve their personal best in all that they do. We are committed to providing our students with an extensive, creative and inspiring curriculum and a range of opportunities both within and outside the classroom that allow them to develop their individual talents to the full. Teaching and learning is at the heart of Melland High School and our dynamic, motivated and experienced teams of teachers, teaching assistants and supporting professionals use every opportunity to help students do their best, and more. Working alongside senior leaders in education, the school benefits from opportunities from across Bright Futures schools, giving our students and staff outstanding support to help them to excel. We particularly value the tremendous support of parents and carers, recognising their key role in supporting the learning process. We also recognise the significant contribution to the ongoing development of the school provided by our wide network of community partners.Sue Warner,Principal

“Enrichment gives students the opportunities to try new and varied activities that develop character, resilience and motivation, and encourage them to pursue wider goals. It helps to teach life skills that benefit young people beyond the classroom, and can promote an appreciation for cultural and community issues, teamwork and social responsibility.
