Welcome to Hertswood Academy
Sixth Form provision is good.’Ofsted 2025The Sixth Form at Hertswood Academy is all about aspirations and achievement. Whether students aspire to Russell Group universities or apprenticeships there are options to suit every ambition. Students have left Hertswood in recent years destined for Yale, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, London School of Economics, Leeds, Nottingham, Imperial College, University College London, Northern School of Dance, Central St Martins and increasingly apprenticeships including ones with the NHS, and in teaching (PE apprenticeships at local schools), advertising (Media Com), engineering (Connect 25) and accounting (Ernst & Young). Whatever the destination, the experience of Sixth Form is an exciting one.Students begin the Sixth Form with teambuilding and induction activities designed to help them make the very challenging jump from GCSEs to Level 3 courses. Along the way they are guided by expert teaching staff and supported by a highly committed pastoral team. All students have access to a wide range of study facilities and tutorial support as well as super and extracurricular activities. These include first class work experience opportunities which we offer in partnership with professional companies, interesting and diverse speakers as well as other projects and trips. Students are encouraged to become leaders by joining the senior student team or taking part in one of our many activities supporting Lower Site students and after school clubs. Wherever you want go the Sixth Form at Hertswood is a unique, exciting, learning experience.‘Leadership opportunities, such as the school council and sixth-form leadership team, enable pupils to develop valuable skills and confidence.’Ofsted 2025‘Teachers, particularly in the sixth form, use their strong subject knowledge to deliver the curriculum effectively.’Ofsted 2025
