University
Leia Bromfield-Peltier left BSFG after taking A levels in Chemistry, Physics and Maths. Leia graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Master’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and plenty of Kudos to attract potential employers. As well as being the President of the Civil Engineering Society Leia’s final year design project won her the Mott Macdonald Design Prize. In 2019 Leia joined Atkins, a world leading Design and Consultation company, as a Graduate Civil Engineer. She has been involved in a number of projects such as Crossrail 2 and the remodelling of Croydon’s rail system. Her work involves designing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software; meeting with clients from Network Rail and TfL; or going on site to see how structures are built. Leia is currently working towards Chartership with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), the professional qualification for Civil Engineers used as recognition within the field. Leia works with the ICE to promote engineering and STEM to under 19s and has taken part in school events at BSFG, including our annual STEM networking event for year 10s.
Farhana Irshad

Farhana Irshad left Brentford with A levels in English, Media Studies and Psychology. She completed her first degree in English and Media Arts at St Mary's University, before doing her Masters in Film and Screen Cultures at Roehampton University. During her studies Farhana worked in various PR and publishing houses and on graduating secured a position as an Academic Partnerships Executive for Epigeum, Oxford University Press. She is also the UK Treasurer for the Society of Young Publishers, managing the SYP budget across branches and making decisions on sponsorships and partnerships for the society to support and promote publishers in their first 10 years in the industry. Earlier this year, Farhana started her Doctorate researching ‘The Evolution of horror audiences and fans in the current age of Netflix and binge watching’. She currently works part-time at Epigeum and part-time lecturing at St Mary’s University and the University for the Creative Arts.
Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesAre run by the school including trips abroad, day trips to London, evening theatre trips, quiz evenings and live music events, BBQs and film nights, the Sixth Form prom and many other activities.
There is a strong emphasis on volunteering at Brentford 6th form. As well as helping to explore career interests, volunteering is a fantastic way for students to DEVELOP CRUCIAL EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS, needed in today’s job market. 6th form students are involved in a range of volunteering opportunities both in and out of school: - Acting as Ambassadors at school events such as open evenings; - Acting as Classroom Support Assistants at a local primary school; - Acting as Classroom Support Assistants across the main school; - Helping out at local events in the community; - Visitng elderly people at local residential homes; - Volunteering work in their local community groups that they have found themselves.
6th form students are encouraged to take up opportunities outside their academic curriculum including: - Social Mobility Foundation - Aspiring professionals programme; - King's College London - K-plus; - Sutton Trust - Summer school, pathway programmes; - Oxbridge programmes - St John's 'Inspire'
