Welcome to St George's Catholic School

The sixth form is perhaps the most important stage of your school career, preparing you for your final school exams and for your entrance into higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work. It is not only the place to hone your academic skills but to help you decide your future path in life and turn you into the adult you want to be. At St George’s we care just as much about your personal enrichment as your exam results, and we get excellent results in both areas. As a small sixth form, we pride ourselves upon knowing our students personally and so can offer you tailored help in making the right decisions to make sure you succeed in your first steps into the adult world. It can be a scary time but is also hugely exciting. In my long career in teaching, it is my various sixth form roles that I have most enjoyed since it is so rewarding watching students develop into mature, resilient and academically successful young women and men. Why study at St George’s Sixth Form? There are numerous reasons! Our Sixth Form results are excellent, and you will receive exceptional teaching. The Sixth Form teachers at St George’s are specialists in what they teach, and they really care about your progress. They offer after school and holiday lessons and will do their very best to ensure you exceed in your target grades. Our students go on to study a wide range of courses at a range of top universities (see the destinations section). Not only do we care about your learning but we also care about your progression after you leave the Sixth Form. You will receive bespoke specialist one-to-one careers and UCAS guidance here. Through our association with the charity, The Access Project (the only school in Westminster to have this resource) we offer the chance for 40 of our sixth form to get free one-to-one tuition from specialists in their areas and a comprehensive support programme of university visits, societies and intensive UCAS application support Another aspect of the personal support that you will receive is that you will have a dedicated Sixth Form tutor and team to support you during your time here. Your tutor will be the first point of contact but, in addition to your tutors and your teachers, there are also several members of staff including myself, Ms Barnes, Ms Mukhtar, Mr Mackay, Ms Kamel, Ms Mondesir, and Ms Mura who are all here to guide and support you through your Sixth Form experience. You will benefit from a distinct and brand new Sixth Form area which offers a library, a quiet study room, a kitchen with a common room and a roof terrace. We aim to run termly social events specifically for Sixth Formers so, although you will work hard, there is time to have fun too! There are many leadership, community and enrichment opportunities open to the Sixth Form. The top team run several events both within and outside of the school. Sixth Formers are instrumental in running the school’s community endeavours and there are many clubs and enrichment activities on offer. We really do welcome you into the Sixth Form. We primarily take students from our junior school but every year, offer some places to external students. If you would like to apply and book in a meeting, please fill in the application form on this website. Many thanks, Mr F Morgan, Head of Sixth Form
