Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
At The Studio, we are committed to providing students with real-world opportunities to develop, explore, and excel. Through creative projects and leadership roles, our enrichment activities enable students to challenge boundaries, discover new passions, and cultivate essential teamwork skills. This holistic approach ensures they are well-prepared for life beyond the classroom – while also enjoying the journey.

The support available to our students
Our students benefit from a wide range of enriching opportunities, including trips to Oxbridge and Cambridge Open Days to inspire and inform their university choices. We have a strong partnership with Aspire Liverpool, providing tailored support for students applying to top universities. Eligible sixth form students can also access tutoring through Liverpool University, enhancing their academic progress. Additionally, our mentoring programme with Bionow connects students with industry professionals. To further support student wellbeing and development, we offer a Mental Health Champions initiative and run Employability Skills Challenges to prepare students for the world of work.
Enrichment Opportunities
Our students engage in a wide variety of STEAM lessons, masterclasses, and innovative projects that spark curiosity and build real-world skills. They participate in initiatives like the Alfred H Knight Lab Metalytics Project and the Ford data dashboard project using Microsoft Power BI, which ties into Ford's ongoing investment in the local area. Through our partnership with Hitachi, students also have access to a state-of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscope, offering hands-on scientific exploration. Enrichment opportunities include Further Maths, the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), and masterclasses from local universities such as Liverpool John Moores. On a global scale, our collaboration with international schools via the Global Alliance broadens students' cultural and academic horizons. Tech-focused activities such as programming Nintendo Switches, working with robots, and attending code camps further equip students with essential digital and problem-solving skills for the future.
Competitions
Our students take part in an impressive range of national and global competitions and programmes that nurture creativity, innovation, and technical skills. These include prestigious events such as the BAFTA Young Game Designers, the Teen Tech Awards, and the Big Bang Science Competition. They also engage with industry through initiatives like the Unilever Inspire Programme, the Business of Science Innovation Awards, and the Global Innovation in Sustainability Summit. Engineering and technology talents are developed through participation in the World Skills Competitions, the VEX IQ Robotics Competition, and the Merseyside Police Cyber Challenge. In addition, students have the opportunity to explore the arts by entering the Dot-art Schools Competition, showcasing their creative potential alongside their scientific and technical achievements.
Published work by our students
Our students are encouraged to pursue academic excellence and original thinking through a range of research and publishing opportunities. Many have had their work published, showcasing their ability to communicate ideas effectively and contribute to wider academic discussions. They also take part in the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) Research Programme, which allows them to explore topics of personal interest in depth. Additionally, students collaborate with the Baltic Research Institute, gaining valuable experience in high-level research and analysis. These opportunities not only enhance their academic profiles but also prepare them for future success in higher education and beyond.
