Callum

September 2021

Employed

Callum began his journey at Catcote Academy in Year 7 and successfully
progressed to Catcote Sixth Form in Year 12, where he attended for three
years. Throughout this time Callum had the opportunity to gain real hands
on work experience in a variety of sectors offering him an insight into the
world of work. This enabled him to make an informed choice about his future
career options. He then enrolled onto our Steps Provision, which is a 16 to 24
employability study programme. This offered him the opportunity to further
develop his work skills. He began working with ‘The little Silver Kiln’, which is a
local Silversmith based in the BIS, Creative Hub in Hartlepool. He really thrived
in this environment and had a natural ability in this sector. As a result he was
offered a supported internship. He continued to develop his expertise and
was successful in obtaining paid employment as a trainee Silversmith.

Chris

September 2021

Employed

Chris attended Catcote Academy where he studied Catering. He
initially gained work experience internally in the School Coffee
Shop and then worked in Catcote Academy’s Vestry Café. Chris
showed a real flair and talent in this sector, so much so that he
successfully completed an apprenticeship where he gained his
NVQ2 in Hospitality and Catering and food hygiene certificates.
As a result of his hard work and determination Chris was offered
a permanent post at Catcote Academy as Coffee Shop Manager.
He continually inspires and mentor’s other students to achieve
their full potential.

Nakita

September 2021

Nakita attended Catcote Academy and progressed to our STEPS
Programme where she undertook our Pre- Supported Internship,
progressing onto our Supported Internship Programme. Through
our employability pathways at sixth form and also within the Steps

Home and West View Lodge Care Home. She was offered paid
work within West View Lodge and currently works part time whilst
studying. She has been offered a full time permanent position
which will start in July 2023. She has a bright future ahead.
