Welcome to The FitzWimarc School

WELCOME
Welcome to our Sixth Form prospectus. FitzWimarc is an outstanding school and we have much to offer, both in terms of high academic standards and the ability to develop resilience and character in our students. We believe in excellence for all and, with the dedication and commitment of our outstanding staff and Governors, and the hard work and determination of our students, the new Sixth Form is an invaluable asset to the town of Rayleigh and the surrounding area. We seek the highest possible academic standards from our students, while helping them to develop as mature adults. I am confident that students will find our Sixth Form enjoyable, challenging and rewarding. ROBERT HARRIS HEADTEACHER

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES The Enrichment Programme includes various structured activities and opportunities that develop existing outstanding practice and extra-curricular programmes in sports, music, dance, debating and drama. It also offers the opportunity to get involved in new initiatives, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award, community service and charitable events, as well as developing the skills necessary for later life, such as cooking, public speaking and the mentoring of younger students.

“WE ARE REALLY GRATEFUL FOR ALL YOU DO AT THE SIXTH FORM AND FOR MAKING OUR DAUGHTER’S LAST TWO YEARS IN SCHOOL ENJOYABLE AND CHALLENGING.” PARENT

“THE STAFF HAVE SUPPORTED NOT ONLY HIS ACADEMIC NEEDS, BUT ALSO HIS EMOTIONAL ONES … YOU HAVE TRULY HELPED TO STEER HIM INTO ADULTHOOD.” PARENT

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
The FitzWimarc Sixth Form is committed to developing a range of skills that will be of great benefit to you in the future. All students in Sixth Form understand the benefit of academic qualifications but we will work with you to cultivate a broader set of skills derived from enrichment activities. Every Wednesday afternoon is set aside for enrichment events including both representative and recreational sport, the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, Community Volunteering, working with younger students within school, providing support for local Primary Schools, Debating, financial advice and careers guidance. As students move towards the end of their time in sixth form and in preparation for leaving home, enrichment also includes DIY and cooking. We will make use of the extensive network of contacts built up by the highly successful Careers Department within school to ensure that all Sixth Form students have the opportunity to gain the skills required to achieve their potential.
