Welcome to the Laurus Ryecroft Sixth Form. 

We are delighted to have opened the doors to our Academic Sixth Form in September 2023 and we are equally delighted that you have chosen to find out more about our exciting offer.

We hope the information here helps you to understand our high expectations and get a feel for what life will be like at Laurus Ryecroft Sixth Form. Should you choose to join us from 2024 then we look forward to working with you to make sure that your time in the Sixth Form is successful, rewarding and enjoyable.

Academic Aspiration

Academic Aspiration underpins everything we offer in the Sixth Form. Academic Aspiration is a cornerstone for success. The path our students take towards realising their aspirations will start with their subject choices. Choosing the right subjects may set students off on the right route, however, studying those subjects effectively – and with an end goal in mind – will support students to get to their destination. To this end, we expect our Sixth Form students to demonstrate Academic Aspiration in their attitude to lessons and independent studies. In turn, we will make sure that they receive all the help and support that they need, including access to outstanding facilities and expert teaching. We believe our Sixth Form students should have high aspirations.

Our role is to ensure that they remain high while also providing a clear route to their own success. It is to provide them with ‘clarity about the things that need to happen for them to achieve their end goal’. (Menzies, 2013)

You will learn in a welcoming and professional environment, in a newly developed and dedicated Sixth Form Centre with classrooms, state-of-the-art ICT provision, a Sixth Form refectory and independent study facilities. We expect you to work hard and share our vision, so that you may open the door to the future of your choice, regardless of your background or circumstance.

We offer a wide range of academic qualifications, alongside an array of Electives and enrichment opportunities. This allows us to provide students with a bespoke curriculum that meets their current and future needs and aspirations.
