Welcome to Philip Morant School and College
At Sigma Sixth, Colchester our young people are valued. We have the highest expectations for all our students, whether that is academic achievement, involvement in our academies or caring for each other. We are uniquely placed as the only non-selective school in Colchester to have a sixth form. This provides an excellent bridge between school and University whilst well known and supported.
The college is part of The Sigma Trust’s post-16 offer for the Philip Morant School, The Stanway School, Paxman Academy, St Helena School and The Thomas Lord Audley School. Although located on The Philip Morant School site, we welcome students from over 20 schools in Colchester, Witham, across Essex and from overseas.
Sigma Sixth, Colchester is proud to include our Sports, STEM, Global and Creative Academies and VI6 University of Essex provision. The Sports Academy benefits from the provision at The Northern Gateway Sports Park. Students can choose to study 3 A Levels as part of the Academy offer or the Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. Our STEM, Global and Creative Academies provide students with hands-on learning experiences with real-world applications that will develop a variety of skill sets, and includes provision at the University of Essex STEM labs and creative opportunities in the city and beyond.
Education is about giving our young people the very best start in life so they are prepared fully to go to university, college or to start a career in their chosen field of employment. Our sixth form team will support you every step of the way.
Sigma Sixth Colchester is a progressive sixth form, with a proven track record. Our teachers are experienced subject specialists who will not only deliver an excellent education, but will also provide the very best care, guidance and support.
We recognise that the quality of facilities can help students excel. Our college has a purpose built block which is exclusively used by our sixth form students, including a College Cafe, a large study centre, e-learning suite and specialist practical areas.
Due to the size of our sixth form we are able to know all of our students and know them well. We ensure you start to feel you belong from your first interaction with us.
We thank you for considering Sigma Sixth Colchester and hope that the information provided on this website enables you to make the best choice for you in terms of courses and institution for continued education Post-16.
