Welcome to Queensbury School

Welcome to our Sixth Form Department. Our post 16 curriculums operate over a 3-year programme. Students are taught in relevant class groups appropriate to their individual needs and cognition.

Mrs B Adnan
Head of School: New Horizons (Post 16)

Year 12, Year 13, Year 14 (Ages 16 – 19)

At New Horizons, our KS5 curriculums (DiscoveryExplorer, and Navigator) are designed for learners to embark on their new phase of educational learning. Queensbury School Sixth Form is an exciting place to learn with experienced pastoral support, exciting life skill opportunities and a fantastically welcoming community, allowing our students to be as independent as possible. In September 2023 we moved into a new facility costing 4.3 million on Station Road which was redesigned and repurposed with our pupils in mind and offers a range of facilities including a common room, sensory room and a therapy room.

Pupils in sixth form undertake a range of vocational courses from pre entry qualifications up to Level 2 qualifications. GCSE retakes (if required) in English and Maths are also undertaken over the sixth form programme. We intend to teach our pupils the life and living skills that are essential in the real world and begin to prepare students, so they are ready for employment, further education and or community inclusion.

As well as the opportunities on site and in the local community we offer a traineeship as an additional pathway for our Year 14 students. Students on this program are dual registered with us and the Hive college. This is an excellent opportunity and root into employment for those who are afforded this opportunity.
