Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
College life is exciting, but it’s about more than just the lessons you take today. At Blackpool Sixth, our Enrichment Programme gives you the chance to broaden your horizons, discover new interests, and develop skills that will set you apart. From the moment you join us, you can choose from a wide range of activities, events, and specialist pathways designed to complement your studies and strengthen your future university or job applications. Taking part means you’ll meet new people beyond your classes, build lasting friendships, and create some of your best college memories.

Chess Society
The Chess Society is a welcoming and inclusive club for students of all skill levels — from complete beginners to experienced players. Our aim is to teach the fundamentals of chess, as well as advanced tactics and strategic thinking. Weekly sessions include guided lessons, puzzle-solving, friendly matches, and tournament play. Whether you're learning how the pieces move or sharpening your endgame, the Chess Society offers a fun and challenging environment to develop your skills and enjoy the game.
DofE (qualification)
DoE involves helping the community/environment; becoming fitter; developing new skills; planning, training for and completing a four-day walking expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.
Eco Schools Committee
Eco Schools is all about making sure that the college is as ‘green’ as possible and that we continue to cut our carbon footprint and do our bit for the planet. The Eco Schools Committee brings together students and staff to make important decisions. It also plays a vital role in helping to inform everyone how they can have a positive impact.
