Riverside Meadows Academy - Special school

On behalf of our pupils, staff and trustees of Horizons Education Trust, we would like to welcome you to Riverside Meadows Academy.

We are immensely proud of our inclusive school which is supported by a fantastic team of staff who are caring, dedicated and highly skilled. As a team they are warm and welcoming, and together with our pupils, build a school community of mutual respect and pride in achievements. 

Riverside Meadows Academy strives to go ‘above and beyond’ in order to support our pupils and their families. Many families appreciated our support during Covid times, and we want to build on those relationships. In line with each pupils' EHCP, the team are firmly committed to providing every pupil with an exciting and personalised curriculum, which engages and fosters a curiosity and enjoyment of learning.

Riverside Meadows Academy is a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) specialist school.  Pupils are encouraged to become ‘the very best they can be, both academically and socially’. We accept pupils for who they are and allow them to develop their interests and skills to prepare for transition as adults. Our pupils make us extremely proud of everything they do and achieve every day!

We have the specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the pupils aged 11-16 years with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We aim to provide a sense of security and belonging so that everyone feels safe and confident and able to demonstrate respect for both themselves and others in a caring and nurturing environment

School organisation:

We are a large inclusive specialist SEMH school for pupils aged 11 - 16, split across two school sites; Almond Road, St Neots (PE19 1DZ) catering for pupils with SEMH and new purpose built SEMH Special School at Barton Road, Wisbech (PE13 4TG) (2023). 

Both school sites provide a bespoke and diverse education for all pupils from Key Stages 3 and 4. 

All pupils have SEMH and most pupils will have additional needs from the four areas of need within the SEN Code of practice recorded in their Education Health & Care Plan, therefore requiring reasonable adjustments to better access the curriculum:

• Cognition and learning: moderate learning difficulties
• Communication and Interaction (in relation to SEMH)
• Autism that is high functioning (but with a diagnosis of SEMH)
• ADHD
• Medical needs
