Ysgol Brynrefail

Ysgol Brynrefail is an 11-18-year-old secondary school in the village of Llanrug in Gwynedd. The school has around 800 pupils with the majority from the catchment area primary schools in Llanrug, Bethel, Llanberis, Deiniolen, Penisarwaun and Waunfawr. Most pupils follow their subjects mainly through the medium of Welsh and as a result almost all pupils are fluently bilingual.The school reflects the cultural and historic nature of the Dyffryn Peris area and its Welshness. There is a happy and caring atmosphere here, and the healthy relationship between pupils and staff is a notable feature. We are proud of the way our pupils develop into confident, bilingual and skilled individuals who are very comfortable in the company of classmates, staff and visitors to the school. Visitors to the school often note how friendly and happy to interact and converse our pupils are at Ysgol Brynrefail!Our team of staff are committed to making a difference to the lives of the pupils. Pupils' happiness and wellbeing is a priority and we try our best to support and encourage all children to realise their potential. We offer a broad, relevant and challenging curriculum and emphasise the importance of a range of extra-curricular activities. ‘Together towards the summit’ is our motto and by working together and showing ambition, respect and resilience we will reach the summit.
