Course summary

Why choose History? • History helps students to understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. • It will support students in gaining a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic, and cultural perspectives. • The topics are engaging and the nature of both the examined unit and the historical inquiry prepare students for courses at the university level. • It prepares students for degrees in Law, Politics, Archaeology, Art History, History and English. Subject Content: • Industrialization and the People: Britain c 1783–1885. • The Sun King: Louis XIV, France and Europe 1643–1715. • Component 3: the non-examined assessment. This component is a historical investigation which allows the student to research a topic and to produce an independent piece of extended writing.
