Assessment
This course is assessed using terminal examination and Non-Examined Assessment Principles of Design: Written Examination 1 ½ Hours 26.7% Learners will be required to: analyze existing products, demonstrate applied mathematical skills, demonstrate their technical knowledge of materials, product functionality, manufacturing processes and techniques, and demonstrate their understanding of wider social, moral, and environmental issues that impact the design and manufacturing industries. Problem-solving in Product Design: Written Examination 1 ¾ Hours 23.3% Learners will be required to read and respond to the resource booklet provided. Apply knowledge, understanding, and skills in designing and manufacturing prototypes and products. Demonstrate thinking skills to solve problems and critically evaluate situations and the suitability of design solutions. Iterative Design Project: Non-examined Assessment 65 Hours approx. 50% The ‘Iterative Design Project’ requires learners to undertake a substantial design, make, and evaluate a project centered on the iterative processes of exploring, creating, and evaluating. Learners identify a design opportunity or problem from a context of their own choice and create a portfolio of evidence in real-time through the project to demonstrate their competence.
