Course summary

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behavior. This means that psychology tries to explain how the human mind works and why people act in the way they do. Psychologists carry out research studies and formulate theories to help to explain behavior. A level Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behavior. Psychological research aims to understand all aspects of human behavior and apply findings to benefit individuals in society. Research in psychology seeks to understand mental health treatment, and many other areas affecting health and daily life. Topics include social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology, biopsychology, and research methods. A level of Psychology is assessed by a mixture of questions on each exam paper including multiple-choice, short answer, and extended writing. There are three exams. In Unit 1 topics covered are social influence, memory attachment, and psychopathology. In Unit 2 topics covered are approaches in psychology, biopsychology, and research methods. In Unit 3 topics covered are issues and debates, relationships, schizophrenia, and forensic psychology.
