Course summary
This challenging course is for students who enjoy mental maths, figures and problem solving. It suits learners who can work accurately with a methodical, numerical and logical mind. You also need to be able to analyse business information and to communicate your conclusions in writing to interested parties. In the first year of the course, you will concentrate on mastering book-keeping and learning how to check your accounts. You will also learn how to prepare financial statements for different types of businesses and will use financial information to help with planning and analysing performance. In the second year of the course, your knowledge of book-keeping will be extended for use in businesses where records of transactions are incomplete. You will also learn about published accounts and various uses and techniques of management accounting. You will focus on the interpretation, analysis and communication of financial information, and the impact of ethical considerations.
