Course summary

Health and Social Care is a great choice for you if you have an interest in working within Nursing, Midwifery, or other Allied Health professions such as Paramedic Science or Occupational Therapy. Additionally, you may wish to pursue a career within the social sector as a Social Worker, Speech & Language Therapist, or work within education.  Whether it is going straight into employment, degree apprenticeship or moving on to university, the broad nature of BTEC Health and Social Care will ensure you have the background knowledge you need to work professionally with a diverse range of service users and be well informed to make the best choices for your next steps. The Health and Social Care department has four dedicated teaching rooms in the Elm building. You will have access to a wide range of resources for the duration of the course which you are expected to use productively along with directed independent learning and internet research to complete your assignments. Our specialist Health and Social Care staff have a variety of different specialisms and this determines which units of the course they teach. Health & Social Care can support you into progressing into careers and degree programmes including primary teaching, children's nursing, paramedic science, midwifery, physiotherapy, adult nursing, social work, operating department practice and occupational therapy.
