Second-year students, to support their studies and the transition from Year 1 to Year 2 of A level, can study the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The EPQ involves students in an extended project of their own choosing requiring students to show their ability to plan, deliver and present a piece of work at A level standard. The EPQ is graded at A* to E and the qualification carries 28 points for A* (the equivalent of half of an A level). The EPQ requires a lot of independent research, which is discussed and reviewed with an allocated EPQ supervisor.
