Assessment

Assessment of this course is via an external exam an externally assessed piece of course work and two pieces of course work that are assessed internally. You will need to achieve a pass, at least, in all the mandatory units. Over the two-year course, you will complete a work placement with children from birth to seven years 11 months. The mandatory units cover the following topics, children’s development, development of children’s communication, literacy and numeracy skills, and play and learning. The optional units, from which only one will be studied, are keeping children safe, children’s physical development care and health needs, and working with parents and others in the early years or the early year's foundation stage.
