- Build on your knowledge of GCSE with a sharper focus on problem-solving - Develop the practical skills for Maths in the real world and related professions - One-year course with UCAS points awarded Mathematics is important in your life as we use mathematical thinking, concepts and problem-solving. It teaches you theory and practical skills which can be applied to work, study and all aspects of our everyday life – including a financial element. Core Maths is a one-year AS level equivalent course which will award you with additional UCAS points and is recognised by higher education institutions. The laws of Mathematics govern everything we do, and by developing a greater understanding of them, we can avoid many problems in life. Core Maths is taken in addition to your suite of A Levels or general applied courses. You will study a range of Mathematical content and how it is applied to everyday situations and within other courses. The core units for the course are as follows: • Analysis of Data • Maths for Personal Finance • Estimation • Critical Analysis of data • Normal Distribution • Probability and Estimation • Correlation and Regression
