Physics
Course summary
Physics is an exciting science subject and the key to building our understanding of the world around us and the world beyond our little planet. If you have an enquiring mind, enjoy a challenge, like solving problems and grasping new and interesting concepts then Physics maybe the subject for you! Module 1: Development of practical skills: skills of planning, implementing, analysis and evaluation. Module 2: Foundations of physics: quantities, units, scalars, vectors and measurements. Module 3: Forces and motion: forces, motion, work, energy, power, materials, Newton’s laws, and momentum. Module 4: Electrons, waves, and photons: charge, current, energy, power, resistance, electrical circuits, waves and quantum physics. Module 5: Newtonian world and astrophysics: thermal physics, circular motion, oscillations, gravitational fields, and astrophysics. Module 6: Particles and medical physics: capacitors, electric fields, electromagnetism, nuclear and particle physics, medical imaging. Additionally, candidates complete a minimum of 12 practical activities throughout the course to demonstrate practical competence in physics (pass / fail).
