Course summary

This qualification is not just about being able to use computers. The course has been designed to provide the in-demand skills involved in system development. At St Peter’s School, we deliver the Application Developer pathway, which is designed to equip students for careers in Web Application development and software development. The first year focuses on the two examined units of the course, with the second year focusing on the coursework elements.

Entry requirements

- 5 grade 4+. You do not need to have studied IT at GCSE. - To qualify for the Sixth Form we require all students to have at least 5 grades 4 or equivalent in a range of subjects.

How you'll be assessed

Year 12: You will sit in 2 examination units. These are externally assessed. Unit 1: Fundamentals of IT (January of Y12) Unit 2: Global Information (June of Y12) Year 13: You will complete three coursework units. These are internally assessed and externally moderated. Unit 6 – Application Design (mandatory unit). Unit 8 – Project management. Unit 21 – Web design and prototyping. Students must pass all units to achieve a grade from Pass (E at A-Level equivalent) to Distinction Star (A* at A-Level equivalent)
