World trade and debt, global inequalities, climate change, spreading deserts, retreating glaciers, devastating natural disasters, cultural (mis)understandings, diminishing resources... All of this is part of modern Geography. Geography is about life. It bridges the gap between the sciences and the arts and tackles the world’s big issues, while also equipping students with an enviable range of skills that are highly valued by universities and employers. In fact, research consistently shows that Geography is among the most highly valued A Levels and degree subject by employers. The Geography team prides itself in using a wide range of resources and learning approaches.The focus is on academic rigour and excellence but in a fun, supportive and enjoyable atmosphere. Geography is a very successful subject, and in 2019, 88% gained an A*- B grade at A-Level. Being social science, Geography combines well with any other subject. Many scientists benefit from broadening their studies and skills by taking Geography, but those with more of a leaning towards languages and the arts equally value studying this subject. A varied, academic and engaging syllabus administered by the Edexcel Exam Board. This specification explores the concepts and processes that help explain geographical phenomena and landscapes, examines topics in real depth and builds on existing skills and knowledge with very little repetition from lower down the school. It is designed to investigate many issues and concepts that young adults are likely to encounter in their current and future lives. It also helps equip them for a rapidly changing world.
