Course summary
All students will have 5 hours a week study culminating in exams at the end of Year 13. These exams will cover the following areas: The Legal System and Criminal Law: Candidates will study the civil and criminal court system, the legal professions and access to justice. This paper also provides an introduction to criminal liability through the study of offences against the person such as murder and offences against the person such as theft. Law Making and the Law of Tort: Candidates will study law making methods and their underpinning concepts. The paper also provides an introduction to civil liability and allows candidates to focus on the rules of tort, liability in negligence and civil remedies available. Further Law: This component, which will be studied in Year 13, allows candidates to extend their study of law by allowing them to look at how the law interacts with society, technology, morality and justice. Candidates will then have the opportunity to develop their legal knowledge further by opting to study contract law or human rights law.
