Course summary

The Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners provides music industry qualifications that will equip learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding for entry to employment in the music industry or progression to further study at a higher level. The qualification aims to offer practical structured learning coupled with contextual knowledge of the industry. The course broadens experience and skills in solo and ensemble performing and will also include workshop sessions on improvisation and other techniques associated with live performance. Any musical style is suitable to perform, and the course includes training in listening and critical review. For the music performance pathway, you will study 2 mandatory units: Rehearsal Skills and Live Music Performance • This unit will give you the skills and knowledge to manage your time and to work successfully with others to rehearse and perform a performance to a scenario set by the exam board. Planning for a Career in Music • This unit will give you the knowledge as to how to increase your marketability and employability by understanding what is needed to develop the appropriate knowledge and skills and the timescales involved in the process. You will also complete 4 optional units to support your growth as a performer.
