Course summary

Psychology is defined as the ‘scientific study of behaviour’. Psychologists aim to describe, explain, predict and even control behaviour. Psychology is real, it is not about common sense or myths and therefore everything that is covered during A Level Psychology can be applied to real life. Because of this, it is a great subject to have knowledge of, whatever career path you may decide to go down. Some famous studies that you will cover as part of the course include Pavlov’s dogs, Milgram’s study of obedience and the infamous Stanford prison experiment to name a few. Over the two years you will cover a whole host of topics including: • Social influence • Memory • Attachment • Psychopathology • Approaches • Research Methods • Issues and debates Choice from a selection of topics including: Relationships/Gender/Schizophrenia/Stress/Eating Behaviour/Aggression/Forensic Psychology/Addiction.
