Course summary

This course explores why the world in which we live is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has ever done before and helps to prepare students for those changes. The transferable skills that Geography fosters are an asset in the complex world of employment today. Geography is about the future and encourages lifelong learning. Topics covered at A Level are from Physical Geography and Human Geography: including the water and carbon cycles through studying rivers, and tropical rain forests; the coastal system and hazards including volcanoes, earthquakes, fires, and storms. Human Geography includes aspects of global systems and governance, globalization, and the emergence of global agencies such as the United Nations. Students must complete two days of field research each year. This will have cost implications.
