Course summary
Component 1: Theatre Workshop Participate in the creation, development and performance of: - One reinterpretation of an extract from a text, using the working methods and techniques of either an influential theatre practitioner or a recognised theatre company. Component 2: Text in Action Participate in the creation, development and performance of: - DEVISED: one devised piece using the working methods and techniques of a second different influential theatre practitioner or recognised theatre company - SCRIPTED: one extract from a text in a contrasting style to the devised performance. Component 3: Text in Performance Learners explore practically and answer questions in written exams on: - Two complete performance texts from different historical periods (open book) - One extract from a third contrasting text (closed book) The course demands practical, creative and communication skills in almost equal measure. You will extend your ability to create drama and theatre, either in a performing or production role. You will also be required to write about drama and to develop your powers of analysis to become an informed critic. The course will involve taking part in drama productions, as well as studying plays and playwrights.
